Happy Anniversary!

So a couple of days ago, it was my 1 year natural hair anniversary. This year has been full of ups and downs and full of learning experiences. But all and all I wouldn’t change anything, I will never go back to have relaxed hair, not saying anything bad for those that choose to remain relaxed….but for myself I can never see myself going back to that. I have seen so much progress in my hair, so much growth and so much more strength. Being natural has allowed me so much more freedom, I go to the gym more than I ever have in my life because I don’t have to worry about sweating out my hair. There is so much versatility with having natural hair, one day it can be straight, the next curly, or pretty much any hairstyle that I can imagine. I’m very happy to have made it one year strong and I look forward to many more years to come!

xoxo

Product Review Friday : Shea Moisture Hair Color System

2015/01/img_0316.jpg

So on Sunday, I went to Sally’s and purchased the new Shea Moisture hair color system in the bright auburn color. I was so excited to finally see it in stores, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. So here’s the review…

Pros- Where to begin, well first it’s organic full of natural ingredients, and it’s free of ammonia and sulfates. I loved that this product displayed women of color as the cover art of the packaging, as well. With the purchase of Shea Moisture products you are also helping fund better causes; and push the legacy of Sofi Tucker (founder) to help empower disadvantaged women around the world. The product contains organic shea butter, soy protein, flax seed oil, organic glycerin, and coconut oil.

The organic shea butter helps moisturize and nourishes with fatty acids and vitamins. The soy protein helps rebuild and strengthen hair. Flax seed oil helps with shine. And the coconut oil help improve the feel, condition and overall health of hair. I also liked that this hair color had a nice pleasant smell unlike others that have a really strong odor. Inside it also came with the Raw Shea Moisture line (the shampoo, conditioner and reconstructive finishing elixir). After coloring my hair it was still soft, I didn’t experience any shedding and my curls were still perfectly intact. The color wasn’t too bright because I have dark brown hair, but I do like the shade that it gave me.

Cons- The only con was the price of course, it was $14.99. But with all the good things in this hair color, I do believe you get what you pay for.

Photos will be coming soon! If you’ve already tried this, let me know what you thought!
